- PARADOX COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
-
-
- FORMS
-
- 1. Can detail forms have embedded forms?
-
- No. Only a master form can have embedded forms. Check
- your form design for alternate approaches using an
- intermediate table as the master.
-
-
- 2. I've entered several records through the <E>dit option,
- but all I have is one record in my table. Why?
-
- Check your key fields. If records with the same key(s)
- are entered, the newly entered record will replace the
- existing record with the same key(s). Enter new records
- through the data entry option or through Coedit.
-
-
- 3. My embedded form does not bring up information associated
- to records in the master form.
-
- Make sure the data in linking fields in both the master
- and detail tables match. That is, the fields have the
- same information, not just the same structure. (Ex.
- Smith vs. Smith)
-
-
- 4. I have a multi-table form that consists of multiple pages.
- Do I have to place a field from the master table on each
- page?
-
- Yes, as designed. You must place a field from the master
- form on each page.
-
-
- 5. Someone is currently using a multi-table form to Coedit
- several tables. I want to Coedit one of the tables
- included in the multi-table form but cannot access the
- table.
-
- The Coediting of a table is limited to one form at a time.
- You need to either use the multi-table form currently in
- use to modify the included table, or wait until the form
- lock is released from the table.
-
-
- 6. Can I print reports with my forms?
-
- No, the only way to get a printed copy of a form is to use
- the <Print Screen> key on the keyboard, or to create a
- report.
-
-
-

-
-
-
-
-
- 7. Why is my numeric field displayed as asterisks (*)?
-
- You need to allow for three extra characters of the
- printed number. For example, if the largest number is
- three digits, six digits need to be specified. Also,
- check through the menu options <I>mage, <F>ormat,
- <G>eneral or <F>ixed.
-
-
- 8. How do I place graphics characters on my form?
-
- Use the Alt key in conjunction with the numeric keypad.
- (Ex. Hold the Alt key and press 205 on the numeric keypad
- to place the ═ characters.)
-
-
- 9. After a restructure, all of my embedded forms have been
- removed from my master. Why?
-
- This occurred because you changed the key fields that
- established the link to the details.
-
-
- 10. Is there any way to format a calculated field on my form?
-
- No, as designed.
-
-
- 11. I am trying to use word wrap in the form. It is not
- wrapping to the next line. Why?
-
- You need to reduce the field display through <F10>,
- <F>ield, <R>eformat in form design mode.
